Native Seattleite Cory Verellen is a photographer and engineer who specializes in restoring antique instant cameras. With a passion for the analog beauty of Polaroid photography.
Sometime in 2008, Cory dug out an old camera that was given to him by his father. From the first exposure from that Model 330 he was hooked. Putting his engineering know-how to use over the next few years he developed the line of cameras and upgrades available on LandCameras.com.
As the demand for his cameras increased, Cory decided to open a brick and mortar store for Polaroid enthusiasts. In October 2011, he bid his engineering job at Microsoft adieu and opened Rare Medium Photography. The store houses Cory’s full collection of Polaroid models and accessories for sale—from SX-70s to Colorpacks to 600 models and more.
The mission is to help support the art of analog instant photography and create a collective space for Polaroid enthusiasts to convene. He welcomes all Polaroid photographers or people with a faint interest in this “rare medium” to stop by and chat, share their work, and participate in the store’s roster of Pola-centric events.
